classes

All my classes are going well except one class which would be geometry; I do not know why it is so flipping hard. Maybe it is because it is an honors class and I am not used to taking honors for math another thing is that geometry is very different compare to other math classes, those two things mix together are not helping me, another thing that gets me is that these chairs are so uncomfortable that it just adds on and on top of that lunch is in the middle so afterwards you get sleepy. I need to start putting more effort into geometry because I do not like it and I struggle with it and I must definitely need to pass that class and pass it with high grades due to the necessity of a high GPA for my future. Other than that I am doing pretty good in my other classes there is room for improvement; in civics I am doing good I just made a one hundred on a test so hopefully that will help my grade boost up to where I wanted to be; although we get a test just about everyday, I guess since we have a substituted things are functioning different around here. In my college  class I am doing good but not as good as I wanted to on my last two chapter test (four and five) I did not get the grades I wanted on chapter four test I made an ninety, and on my chapter five I made an eighty-five, there was a major distraction with that test so it was pretty disturbing to know that eighty-five was cause due to distractions.

How far have we come?

“First we thought the PC was a calculator. Then we found out how to turn numbers into letters with ASCII — and we thought it was a typewriter. Then we discovered graphics, and we thought it was a television. With the World Wide Web, we've realized it's a brochure.”  Douglas Adams. Now day we turn something to something new. This is the impact technology has on society.  Lives are being changed every day because of technology. People this day do not need a computer anymore because they have a phone. A smart phone; a phone that can call, text, check the Internet, instant chat, pay bills, located people. With such great power at a touch of a button, but wait is not a button any more is a screen. Lives have changed now. If all this new technology that we have now would have been there in the Vietnam War, then how many American soldiers would have came home to their wife and kids? How many people could survive getting a heart transplant seventy years ago if we have the tools we have today? Those questions could not be answer because we will never find out but also because technology is a working progress from the beginning where a caveman took a rock to smash a stick as to trying to find life in Mars. Nothing came by magic; we had to start somewhere to get to where we are. By the time my generation is gone doctors might have figured out what shot you need to cure cancer or what pills you should take to cure AIDS. By that time my grand kids are grandpas their kids will be using jet packs or flying cars to get to school/work. This is the world we live in. New things will always come will the old goes out the back. So why make fun of your parents when they can not work an IPhone if in sixty years you will not be able to turn on a 4dTV

news

This week has been a different week because we remember the terrible incident that happen on a tuesday morning the horrific attack on the world trade center. Which is terrible considering that someone planned all this; the worst part of this is that some idiot decided to make a video about making fun of muhammad. Which is stupid why would you cause more conflict than it already exist that is just dumb and should punish. The worst thing is that the ambassador of the US in Libya was murdered. Because of someone being so stupid someone else had to pay the price, someone who is totally and completely innocent. Now what about the guys family his wife and kids the rest of the family what about them? How do you think they feel knowing that a love one is dead because someone decided to be funny and make an awful and disrespectful joke. What do they have be going through right now.
In my opinion I think that that person who created that video or movie should be hardly punish; I think they should take him to the people that are extremely mad and let them take care of him that way he will be punish  in the correct order. Not only is the ambassador is terribly bad but also other people that were with him in the same building were hurt and I think even killed. If I am not mistaking there were like three people. All this because someone decided to be cool and funny, what a shamed.

What happens in class

Well in geometry I have been learning some really weird things. They are so weird that I can not even remember the name of it. I just that when you solve a problem you actually have to stated what you are doing which is stupid because you have to waste time writing down every little thing and how you are doing it. In public speaking we have another project due tomorrow which shouldn’t be because we just had one last tuesday so only a week of break? not even a break because you have to be planning everything that you will say and do. What you have to  do is describe yourself doing or demonstrating something that you are good at. He said that you can do a video of it; but in the video you can not demonstrate because you have to go up and present in front of the class. So I do not understand why make a video if you can’t demonstrate in it. In here it just got a little better because we finally got another option in what to write our blogs about. Now its a little better because it is easier on you knowing that you can not write about one thing then you can write about another. I just hope things get better in that class because it is awful in there. The last class would be civics which is going great that is the easy class out of all of them. The bad thing about it is that my teacher is not doing good at all and that is really bad; apparently she has a tumor and that is terrible that is all I know about her and I hope she gets better fast. Right now we have a substitute so talking class wise it is going great. So this all that happens in my classes.

Poem 9/11

A few months after the attack on the World Trade Center, Rudolph Giuliani, then the outgoing mayor of New York City, called for a "soaring" memorial to the people who died on 9/11.Two massive square voids sited within the footprints of the towers. On all four sides of each void, waterfalls descend into a broad reflecting pool, irresistibly. Libeskind had proposed that the exposed foundation pit of the towers, a 70-ft.-deep concrete "bathtub" scorched by the fires of the attack, might be kept open. Arad's victory in the memorial competition meant that Libeskind's idea of preserving that wounded pit was swept away. But scale has a power all its own, and by its very size — each of the voids is about an acre in size. Its right-angled geometry notwithstanding, it appears before you as a vast abstract of nature, of cliffs, waterfalls and chasms. The water pours into the tanks through narrow channels spaced an inch and a half apart, it drops first in separate rivulets. The names are engraved — cut all the way through, actually, and back lit at night — on bronze panels along the parapets that form the perimeter of both voids; In all there are 2,983. The voids with a six-acre park plaza of granite pavers and closely planted white oaks that will eventually grow to a height of 60 feet, forming a leafy canopy in the warm weather months. Including the park, the memorial covers just under half the 16-acre World Trade Center site.

The whole point of this is to keep in memory the terrible thing that happen on that Tuesday, that beautiful blue sky all the sudden turn into a cloud of smoke. This monument was to kept those lives  who were lost in memory. The monument is two huge pools with waterfalls and a lot of trees. They decided to make it like this so there would be a memory of those that left on that Tuesday. They decided to make like this because it can be a memory of the incident but also not make it sad and depressing for the people who go and visited their family members and friends. It is also going to be a park where you can get your morning jog in.

Wifi lightbulb

Have you ever thought of saving money? What about saving energy? Do you ever use the Internet?  How about light, do you own a light bulb? Well if you answer yes then you will want to hear what I am about to tell you.

You should start fallowing Harald Haas on twitter because this man just came up with a Wi-Fi light bulb. Yes you read it right; a light bulb with Internet on it. With this new technology you would no longer have the need to put your phone up when you fly. The same lights on the plane will give you an Internet signal.

Harald Hass who works at Edinburgh University as a engineer created a light bulb using OFDM technology. This data rates of up to 10 MBit/s per second. They estimate it will be at one GB in the future. With such technology the possibilities are endless.

With this invention many people are not going to be happy; those will be the Internet companies. They are going to have to pull some strings together if they want in the race. There will not be a need to pay for Internet when you can it from a light bulb.

In my personal opinion I think this invention will be complicated because of internet companies. I think they are going to pay Harald Haas off, just like oil companies done with Toyota. With good planning hopefully Haas will be able to compete against such companies.

On the other hand many people would be delighted with this smart idea. Just as Haass said "Everywhere in a day there is light. Look around. Everywhere. Look at your smart phone. It has a flashlight, an LED flashlight. These are potential sources for high-speed data transmission.” (Harald Haas) this is going to be easy for everybody to have since everybody has light. This will be a new revolution to save the environment. For all those people going green, well here you go I don’t think you can do better than this. This technology will save power. Also you will prevent from spending money on monthly bills.

Acts

Acts was made to give  history of the early church. The purpose of the book is the importance of the day of Pentecost and being use really good to be witnesses for Jesus Christ. Acts tells you that the apostles were Christ's witnesses in Jerusalem, and to the rest of the surrounding world. The book gives light on the gift of the Holy Spirit, who gives power, guides, teaches, and is our Counsel. Reading the book of Acts, we are teach and encouraged by a lot of miracles that that happened during this time by the disciples Peter, John, and Paul. The book of Acts tells you the importance of obedience to God’s Word and the transformation that occurs as a result of knowing Christ. Also the book talks about what happen to those who that rejected the truth that the disciples preached about the Lord Jesus Christ.Acts gives the history of the Christian church and the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as the mounting opposition to it. Although many faithful servants were used to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, Saul, whose name was changed to Paul, was the most influential. Before he became a christian, Paul took great pleasure in persecuting and killing Christians. Paul’s dramatic conversion on the Damascus road is a highlight of the book of Acts. After his conversion he went to the opposite extreme of loving God and preaching His Word with power, fervency and the Spirit of the true and living God. The disciples were powered by the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, and many other cities , and to the ends of the earth. Included in the last part are Paul’s three missionary journeys, his difficult times in Jerusalem and Caesarea and his final journey to Rome.

procrastinate

It is good to procrastinate. Yea I have never heard that one before ever since I was little I have always heard the opposite “do your work do not wait till sunday night to do it”  And really I have always agreed with that because its not rocket science it make sense why you do not want to wait till last minute to do it if that happens then you will be stress out the whole time and we all know its not fun to be stress especially when all your friends have finish and they are having fun without you. But new studies show maybe it is good to procrastinate, yea I know I felt the same way when I read it I thought it was pretty stupid for someone to say that. The thing is they done the research while I sat at home and procrastinated my public speaking speech the whole weekend, so I am going to have to go with them instead of me. Studies show that it is good to wait sometimes because then you have time to do other things that you need to do and see that is an active procrastinator but when you are acting like me and your watching TV instead of doing your work then that is bad that is called a passive procrastinator. The study said that you need to wait the longest before you actually do something. A really good example of that is boxing; when a boxer is on the ground and the ref is counting to ten, most boxers tend to wait till the eighth or ninth second before they get up.

JFK

On this post I will be talking about John F. Kennedy I have been doing research and reading his inaugural address. The purpose for the famous speech that JFK address was very important. Kennedy had won the campaign that was a very hard one.  The inaugural speech of JFK was addressed with a purpose, in this purpose he told us the US what he was going to do which was focused on the liberty of this country JFK was determined to protect the US especially in those times in which our enemy was the USSR. All this JFK promised to us in the heart of our country, Washington DC on January twenty 1961. JFK promised all this to us because he wanted us to feel protected and wanted us to know that the same beliefs the founding fathers had were still his beliefs. JFK wanted everyone to know that they were equal and we all deserve the same, JFK also wanted to stop poverty/hunger. JFK did promised a lot but one thing he got right is that he promise us liberty and safety and JFK accomplish this because of how he ended the Cuban missile crises. Kennedy tries  to help inspire Americans to continue to support and contribute to their country in order to help make America the best. He also tries inspiring and encouraging the world that uniting together can help them to achieve world freedom of men, unification of all countries, and world peace. JFK also paused a lot and spoke at a slow tempo to let his words sink in to his audience.

Technology

Technology is great and I love using it. I am a musician so I love the technology we have for music I think its fantastic how far technology has come; it has come so far that it makes music much simpler. The recording industry has improved a lot ever since the Beatles recorded there first album. on a  BTR two track machine. Which originated came from World War Two. This seems like total garbage if you but it next to a studio that we now use. Not counting that now we can record from the comfort of our home with such great programs like Logic and Pro Tools.

So whats in a studio? Well a lot of things if we was to go into detail, but we are not. A music studio is a place were you record your music. A studio has things like a mixer, midi, microphones, good monitors, keyboard, and good software such as Pro Tools.

For guitars players technology has been great for them. As a guitar player you will use guitar pedals which will change the sound of your guitar. Now days we have such technology that Line 6 has come up with a online community were you can create your own guitar sounds and post them online for other people to use, you can also use sounds from other people. This is fantastic because thanks to technology it brings musicians around the world together. It also makes it easier for us, especially if you are looking for that specificity sound for a certain song, riff, chorus.

Now Line 6  has a app where you can plug your guitar straight into your IPhone/IPod/IPad and play from there and get your customized sounds. This the great benefits technology has on us musicians, not only us but also audio engineers and sound producers/ songwriters.

mother earth

  1. Planet Earth is a article about the earth. This article is nonfiction because the earth is supposedly talking to us and its telling us that we need to leave the earth. This is why mother earth is sending all those terrible things like hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes and many other bad things. What does not make sense about this story is that earth talk to us and tell us that we need to go to mars or somewhere else. The earth claims that she has done everything in her power to make us leave. Earth also claims that with all the extreme technology that we have came up with that we have try to outsmart mother earth. The tone to this story is a little bit tricky because its has a lot of science but really is not educate in my opinion I would think is to entertain because you  really do not learn much from this article; the author is just approaching the subject from a different side. By the author adding personification it changes the total story and makes the reader visualise the earth as a human or at least that it has its mind of its own. Over all I do not like this story, I think it is boring because it does not have absolutely anything interesting. If at least it was in a scientific version but all this personification nonsense is out of the picture, in my opinion. I just hope that the stories get better because it is really hard and frustrating to write about something that does not have any appeal to.

cobus

Cobus Potgieter is a professional drummer who became famous off of Youtube. He is an excellent drummer with great skills. Cobus is from Northern Cape, South Africa he was born in 1986. Cobus did not know what he wanted to do with his life. He was pretty much like me he really was not doing anything. Cobus found his desire towards drums when he went to a youth event at a church and afterwards the drummer from the band ask people to come and try a drum beat, when Cobus went up there he did not struggle and got it right away. That is how he discovered he liked drums. When he got a computer he started to listen to a lot of music and became more interested in drums. After a year after the youth event he had saved enough money. One day Cobus could not sleep so he just got on his drum set and started recording. He recorded eleven songs. Those songs became the “overhead series” and Cobus uploaded them online on Youtube and that is how Cobus new life actually started. Cobus started posting more series on Youtube all his videos make up over 100 millions views. This is something huge for someone who just plays drums for fun. Cobus flew to Canada to shoot video lessons with Jared Falk who is a drum teacher online who is phenomenal. When Cobus finish his lessons he flew to Los Angeles to the drum channel there he got to play with other great drummers like Tony Royster Jr. and others. Cobus recorded another series with a DW drum set which he got as a sponsor; he also uses TRX cymbals. Cobus is now creating a album, he is helping people around the world be heard just like he was heard. Cobus made people from around the world audition for their part. This album is currently in process

civics

In Civics we were talking about the settlement of America. I really do not know why we are talking about that in Civics because that should be for US history. I always thought that Civics was about economics and how the government functions and operates, but I absolutely love history so I can just sit back and enjoy long lectures of history and still find it fun and attractive. Today in class we were taking notes and watching videos of how they settle here and how the Pilgrims made an alliance with the Indians. The Indians help the settlers and taught the settlers how to plant and life off of the new land. The videos were were really nice I liked them because they were in HD and they were kept in focus, the videos were also fun because it was not someone talking, it was somebody making a scene like if you were actually there. It was hard because the terrible winter of 1609 made a lot of the settlers to leave their new life. Only sixty out of the two hundred and fourteen settlers survived the very hard winter, which was also hard on Indian tribes and other neighboring Native Americans. Jamestown made it because one smart man knew that in England people were hook on tobacco so he decided to come to America and plant tobacco which was one of the main crops grown by the English settlers, they sold to Native Americans and to people back in England. Tobacco became a very popular crop because it was easy to grow and because it brought in so much money. Once the money started flowing in regularly, the Jamestown colony grew, as did other settlements in Virginia and in other states along the eastern seaboard. This was the beginning of the country in which we live in today.

One woman scream “No give it to her” but the other women did not care and wanted king Solomon to still cut the poor baby in half; when all this happen Solomon knew that the baby;s mother was the women who did not want the baby dead. Solomon wanted  to build the temple to God because God had been good to Solomon, he made sure the temple was really pretty and was filled with gold when he finish it God promises He would dwell in Israel. My Clases

My classes are fine. There is really not much going on since school just started; we really have not started learning much yet so things are a little bit slow. In my Civics class we are talking about citizenship in the  United States. To become a citizen you have to be born in United States, or request a citizenship; by requesting a citizenship you at least have to be eighteen years old and have live in the United States for at least five years. To become a citizen you have to take an exam on history of the United States, which has about one hundred questions on it, you also have to pledge that you will follow the rules of the United States and not of foreign governments.
In my Geometry class we are learning about undefined terms which are;  Point- anything that has no dimensions. It has no length, width or thickness. It is represented by a dot. Use a single capital letters to name it. Line- anything which is connected by two points and is extended indefinitely in all directions. Use single lowercase letters to name it. Plane anything which has no thickness but has length and width and extended in all directions. Use two capital letters to name it. In Public speaking we have a substitute so things are going kinda slow and really haven’t done much. Right we have learn the things we should not do when you are talking in front of an audience or to a crowd. Then we had to bring in five things that we like to do and present them to the class; when you were presenting you were supposed to make sure you did not do the things we had discuss about not doing. So that is all that is going on in my classes I hope things get more exciting.

Helberth Ramirez

My name is Helberth Ramirez, I was born in Costa Rica in 1996. My dad who was tired of his old job was looking for something new and different. He moved to the United States when I was eight. It took him nine months for him to get settled, find a nice job and a house. That is when I come in the pictured. I got here when I was eight and have been here ever since. It was tough at first, going to school when all you knew was "Thank You"; but over the years I came out to where I am today. Right now my focus is music and school. I play drums which is my main focus and attraction  and guitar so music is really huge part of my life. I listen to alot of John Mayer and Dave Matthews as well as Christian music; my major influences are John Mayer, Tony Royster Jr and Cobus. I have a Pearl Vision birch drum set with Sabian AAX cymbals. The drum set sounds amazing I am totally in love with them and the cymbals are great sounding, they have a nice brilliant sound, are loud and nice tone; I also own Pdp hardware and recently just bought Pearl’s Demon Drive which are amazing, that double bass pedal is phenomenal; it's just like their motto “Heavenly feel; wickedly fast”. As of school, well is not my favorite thing to do but you can not live without it. So I will have to focus and work hard to achieve my dreams. Right now my brother and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica to visit for next summer. We are thinking of surprising my family by showing up at their front door without notice. That would be really fun, I would love to see them react to something like that.
