Montana’s Part
So far, this book is very interesting to me. I really don’t think I have been bored reading the first part of this book. Through the twists and turns of Tita’s lover being given away to her sister, Nacha’s suicide, and Gertrudis running away naked after eating the rose petal quail, this book never fails to excite! The author has created a crazy situation wrapped up in every recipe while still keeping the stories intertwined together.
Brianna’s Part: How does the work connect to your life and/or events around you.
One of Tita’s struggles is a way that I can relate to the book. Tita is having problems with trying to live her own life and doing what she wants. Mama Elena doesn't want Tita to do anything that she wants, like trying to marry Pedro. My mom won’t let me do much either, like when I want to go out to the movies or the mall with my friends, she always says no. Another way this book connects to events around me is the way that they cook all the time. My family is big on cooking. We have many traditional recipes that we pass onto each generation. My family always cooks many new and different recipes.
Helberth’s part.
The book Like Water for Chocolate is about Tita. Tita is the official cook of the ranch since Nacha committed suicide for missing her fiance. Tita’s life revolves around cooking, if she don’t cook then no one eats; and that is not going to settle well with Mama Elena who is a cold woman. Mama Elena runs the ranch and she does not tolerate any disrespect what’s so ever. Tita learns that the hard way; when her sister was marrying Tita’s lover Pedro she became very upset. Tita goes into a deep depression because she was not able to married him. Since she is the youngest child she has to take care of Mama Elena until she dies. This means she couldn’t have a life of her own. That is why Pedro married Tita’s sister since he couldn’t have Tita. Pedro tells Tita that he married her sister just to be closed to her. One day Tita and Pedro watch another one of Tita’s sister run out naked from her shower to be pick up by a man in a horse. Pedro and Tita were amazed at the passion that they seen; this led to Tita and Pedro having occasions where they explored each others body. Unfortunately, Pedro’s wife has a baby, but the wife is not doing so good. Mama Elena send Pedro and his new family to the United States; here the mom would receive better medical attention. Tita was devastated by the news since she was taking care of the baby and even miraculously breast feeding him. Tita was also going to lose her lover Pedro. Once they left Tita’s life became very depressed again especially when she learns that the baby dies once they are in the United States..

Humanities Blog
They are using chronological to write this article.
didactic
The article is about brazilians who went to France in the 1500’s. The brazilians were cavinals and ate people.
“decidedly more horrendous than the native Brazilian practice of eating one’s enemies after they are dead; and the humane, egalitarian character of the Brazilians’ moral sensibility, which was on display in their recorded observations.”
This meant brazilians ate the people who were their enemies.

Say What? Better Hearing Takes Practice
The structure is used to organize the order of the information is cause & effect.
Tone of the article is neutral because its information.
The purpose of this article is show adults who have a difficult time hearing. Studies have show that they can learn how to overcome that article.
" 67 people aged 55 to 70 years old with no hearing loss or dementia in an experiment. Half the group completed about 2 months of exercises with Brain Fitness, a commercially available auditory training program by Posit Science. "
"they understood about 20% more words and could process about 15% more items on a timed test and showed a 50% increase in neural timing. Those in the non-training group showed no improvements in any area."
"Neural slowing especially affects our ability to hear in a noisy background because the sounds we need to hear are acoustically less salient and because noise also taxes our ability to remember what we hear."
This means once I get old I will still be able to hear a little better than generations before.

TV makes people less lonely.
1. Organization: What structure is used to organize the order of the information. (e.g. cause & effect, chronological, most important to least important, etc.) He starts with the effect of watching TV and goes to the cause of watching TV.
2. Tone of the article: How does the author feel about what he/she is writing about? He feels happy about it because people can now feel better about their situation and feel welcome.
3. Main idea: sum up in 2 or 3 sentences what this article is explaining. This blog is to state that watching TV makes them feel less lonely. It also talks about how people who have a social life usually don’t like a show as much as a lonely person.
4. Supporting details: explain at least 3 details that make the point that the main idea is trying to get across. “In a study, psychologists noticed that people are more likely to watch favorite TV shows when they're lonely, and feel less lonely during the show. “
“lonely people are primed to enjoy positive TV shows. A study found that people in need of social acceptance train themselves to read more queues from facial expressions.”
“Lonely people may be able to make stronger connections with TV shows and TV characters than people who already have a lot of people in their lives.”
5. Inferences--extend ideas beyond this article: what does this mean for you? for other people?for the whole
If you're lonely maybe you should watch TV; other people can take a new initiative; everyone has their reasons to watch TV.

classes
All my classes are going well except one class which would be geometry; I do not know why it is so flipping hard. Maybe it is because it is an honors class and I am not used to taking honors for math another thing is that geometry is very different compare to other math classes, those two things mix together are not helping me, another thing that gets me is that these chairs are so uncomfortable that it just adds on and on top of that lunch is in the middle so afterwards you get sleepy. I need to start putting more effort into geometry because I do not like it and I struggle with it and I must definitely need to pass that class and pass it with high grades due to the necessity of a high GPA for my future. Other than that I am doing pretty good in my other classes there is room for improvement; in civics I am doing good I just made a one hundred on a test so hopefully that will help my grade boost up to where I wanted to be; although we get a test just about everyday, I guess since we have a substituted things are functioning different around here. In my college class I am doing good but not as good as I wanted to on my last two chapter test (four and five) I did not get the grades I wanted on chapter four test I made an ninety, and on my chapter five I made an eighty-five, there was a major distraction with that test so it was pretty disturbing to know that eighty-five was cause due to distractions.

How far have we come?
“First we thought the PC was a calculator. Then we found out how to turn numbers into letters with ASCII — and we thought it was a typewriter. Then we discovered graphics, and we thought it was a television. With the World Wide Web, we've realized it's a brochure.” Douglas Adams. Now day we turn something to something new. This is the impact technology has on society. Lives are being changed every day because of technology. People this day do not need a computer anymore because they have a phone. A smart phone; a phone that can call, text, check the Internet, instant chat, pay bills, located people. With such great power at a touch of a button, but wait is not a button any more is a screen. Lives have changed now. If all this new technology that we have now would have been there in the Vietnam War, then how many American soldiers would have came home to their wife and kids? How many people could survive getting a heart transplant seventy years ago if we have the tools we have today? Those questions could not be answer because we will never find out but also because technology is a working progress from the beginning where a caveman took a rock to smash a stick as to trying to find life in Mars. Nothing came by magic; we had to start somewhere to get to where we are. By the time my generation is gone doctors might have figured out what shot you need to cure cancer or what pills you should take to cure AIDS. By that time my grand kids are grandpas their kids will be using jet packs or flying cars to get to school/work. This is the world we live in. New things will always come will the old goes out the back. So why make fun of your parents when they can not work an IPhone if in sixty years you will not be able to turn on a 4dTV

news
This
week has been a different week because we remember the terrible
incident that happen on a tuesday morning the horrific attack on the
world trade center. Which is terrible considering that someone planned
all this; the worst part of this is that some idiot decided to make a
video about making fun of muhammad. Which is stupid why would you cause
more conflict than it already exist that is just dumb and should punish.
The worst thing is that the ambassador of the US in Libya was murdered.
Because of someone being so stupid someone else had to pay the price,
someone who is totally and completely innocent. Now what about the guys
family his wife and kids the rest of the family what about them? How do
you think they feel knowing that a love one is dead because someone
decided to be funny and make an awful and disrespectful joke. What do
they have be going through right now.
In my opinion I think that that person who created that video or movie should be hardly punish; I think they should take him to the people that are extremely mad and let them take care of him that way he will be punish in the correct order. Not only is the ambassador is terribly bad but also other people that were with him in the same building were hurt and I think even killed. If I am not mistaking there were like three people. All this because someone decided to be cool and funny, what a shamed.
